San Francisco Bay Area vocalist Karen Marguth is one of the most acclaimed vocal jazz artists to emerge in the 2000s. An independent musician, she has released six albums as a leader, two of which have been listed in DownBeat’s annual Best of the Year issue, and one which received a rare four-and-a-half stars.
Born in Minneapolis and raised in the Bay Area, Karen's background includes all things theatrical: choreography, directing and performing in regional theater and international touring shows, voice-overs, studio work, composing, writing lyrics, and hosting a weekly radio program.
Named "one of the finest American jazz vocalists" by Jazz Times, she continues to quietly produce albums that receive international acclaim while holding down a day-job as an educator. She has served in public schools as a classroom teacher, an instructional coach for the arts and literacy, and as a consultant for the National Writing Project and the International Baccalaureate Organization.
